The online backgammon is becoming more and more popular among the backgammon lovers' community
and as in every other developing market, the competition is just getting bigger. There are always
the few first suppliers and then come the big companies, following the smell of succession. One of
those big companies is party gaming with the software PartyGammon. After a few years of a market
ruled by two or three big communities, now there is a new player in the backgammon room -
PartyGammon.
PartyGammon - the game
The new 3 dimensional backgammon software, PartyGammon by party gaming is the newest backgammon
server on the online backgammon scene.
Its interface looks very good and realistic and it seems like the developers tried to use all
the good features of the already existing backgammon softwares. The playing is very easy and
friendly and the feel is much like the real game. The PartyGammon server uses a nice rating system,
very similar to all others online backgammon softwares. Though, it has a problem - there is no
special rating for new players and if you are using a new server with a new community which is, of
course, occupied by many new players, a rating system that won't tell you who is new is not very
helpful.
The party gammon lobby:
There is another big problem with the population of PartyGammon's community, there are not
enough players. Maybe the online backgammon players need a very good reason to change the program
they are using. And, sorry to say, but PartyGammon does not have such advantages that will attract
the players from their regular backgammon software.
the PartyGammon board:
When I entered the PartyGammon server there were hundred backgammon users, more or less, on all
the tables (including the PartyGammon real money/ play money games, the tournaments and everything
else. When someone wants to play backgammon online, he wants to play, not to wait� and if this is
the number of players, well, the waiting could be the biggest part of the game.
Summary
PartyGammon had made great software. It is friendly, it has a great looks, the board, as a 3D
board is very realistic and as a backgammon software it is very good. The problem with PartyGammon
is that maybe, they did not understand that the most important thing in a backgammon community
server is the community. Maybe with the time, it will get bigger and the problem with the rating
system will be solved. Until then, the backgammon online provided by Party Gammon has no advantages
over any existing backgammon game and the problems are too big.
